Hills District homes have bigger garages than most of Sydney, and many still run doors from the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Premium Garage Doors repairs, replaces and automates doors across Castle Hill (2154), Baulkham Hills and Bella Vista (2153), Kellyville (2155) and Kenthurst (2156), Monday to Saturday from 7am to 6pm. A new insulated double sectional typically costs $1,800 to $4,500 installed and spring replacement $250 to $550, with GST included.

Is it worth converting a tilt door to a sectional?
For most Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill homes still running an original tilt door, yes. Tilt doors are a single heavy panel that swings out as it opens, which means you cannot park close to the door, the seal around the edges is poor, and the springs and pivots wear hard. An insulated sectional rolls straight up on tracks, seals properly, runs quietly and is much easier on an opener. A conversion involves removing the tilt panel and its hardware, checking the lintel and opening for damage, and fitting the new door and tracks. The new sectional typically costs $1,800 to $4,500 installed, and removing the old door is usually a modest add-on.
What should a double or triple garage door cost?
Price follows width, insulation and finish. As a guide:
- Standard double sectional: lower to middle of the $1,800 to $4,500 range.
- Insulated double in a timber-look or matte finish: middle to top of the range.
- Triple-width and premium finishes: top of the range or above it.
- New opener: $600 to $1,600 installed, more for heavy wide doors and smart features.

Why are so many Hills District springs failing at once?
Because whole streets were built at the same time. A standard torsion spring is rated for about 10,000 cycles, roughly seven years at four cycles a day, and busy family households get there sooner. In Kellyville, where many doors went in during the early 2000s, and in the older streets of Castle Hill, springs across a street often reach the end of their life within a year or two of each other. If your door feels heavy, slows near the top or went bang and will not lift, read our spring replacement guide and call us rather than forcing it.
Do steep Hills driveways need a special set-up?
Many Hills garages sit at the top or bottom of a steep drive. The opener's travel limits and closing force need to be set for the slope so the door closes fully without pressing too hard, and the bottom seal should follow the floor so rain and leaves stay out. We also test the safety reverse on every job, because a door on a slope that does not reverse properly is a real hazard for children and pets.
Repair or replace a 1990s double door?
If the panels are straight, the door runs evenly once the springs are renewed, and you are happy with how it looks, repair it: new springs, rollers and a service can give an older door years more life. If panels are dented or cracked, the door is uninsulated under a living area, or it needs springs, cables and a new opener all at once, the repair bill starts to approach the cost of a new insulated door. We price both options on site so you can compare like for like.
Automating gates and sheds on acreage
In Kenthurst and the acreage edges of Box Hill, the garage door is often only part of the job. Automated sliding and swing gates, solar-powered gate motors for long driveways, and high-clearance roller doors for machinery sheds are common requests. Gate automation is quoted on site because it depends on the gate's size and weight, the distance to power or a sunny spot for a solar panel, and the access controls you want.
Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Cherrybrook, Glenhaven and Dural?
Yes. Alongside Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Bella Vista, Kellyville and Kenthurst we work in Cherrybrook, West Pennant Hills, Glenhaven, Norwest, Dural and Annangrove, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 6pm.
Will an insulated door make my garage cooler?
It helps. An insulated door slows the heat moving through the door into the garage and the rooms around it, which matters for the many Hills garages that sit under bedrooms or living areas. It also makes the door quieter.
How much does an automated gate cost?
It is quoted on site, because the price depends on the gate's size, weight and type, the power or solar set-up, and the access controls you choose. We give a fixed price, including GST, before any work starts.
